Is anyone else excited that baseball season is underway?? What teams are you'll rooting for??

Post 2 by margorp (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Saturday, 06-Mar-2010 16:22:20

Baseball is okay but it's not my favorite.

nice input. I am a bluejays fan, unfortunately we traded our best pitcher to the phillys for a sac of pine tar. Oh well...still excited.

Post 4 by tyger_lillee84 (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Friday, 12-Mar-2010 17:51:10

I'm a boston Redsox fan, and our best offensive player left, and for just 3 million more... We got another great pitcher though, so I guess it's all good.

Yes, I am excited that spring training has begun - means that the cruddy weather is almost gone!
I, too, am a Jays' fan. Unfortunately this season will be a long one, but in a couple of years, we should have a great team. BTW Cowboys fan, that sack of pine tar will anchor our batting order and pitching staff in 2012.
Is anybody else A.B.Y.?

Post 7 by tyger_lillee84 (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Saturday, 13-Mar-2010 21:27:02

Who is the "sack of pine tar" you jay fans speak of?? Go sox!!!

Post 8 by dallas cowboy fanc (Veteran Zoner) on Sunday, 14-Mar-2010 0:47:59

kyle drabek, michael taylor and travis d'arnaud.hard to replace 20 wins. I guess we will see.

Post 9 by tyger_lillee84 (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Monday, 15-Mar-2010 12:07:11

Didn't the Jays get a new gm, or manager or something as well??

Post 10 by Leafs Fan (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Monday, 15-Mar-2010 12:59:30

I am excited about ball season, although I too am a Jays fan. spring training has looked decent so far though. We love winning in April and September, and we usually fuck up from May til August. LOL I will be cheering for Roy in Philly, but ultimately I am hoping for good ball from Toronto! Yes, we have a new GM, Alex A. LOL Can't spell his last name.

Post 11 by tyger_lillee84 (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Monday, 15-Mar-2010 17:02:25

I watched the game between the Jays and the tigers today on the Mlb network. It was a pretty good game, with the tigers coming out on top with a 7 to 10 win!! My sox usually have a great season all around, but I'm a little worried this year. I don't think we have enough offense with Jason Bay gone to the Mets. We'll have to see though!!!! I so live for the start of baseball lol!!!!!!

Post 12 by Leafs Fan (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Tuesday, 16-Mar-2010 7:37:20

We will have to converse about baseball all season. None of my friends watch it at all so I have very few ball chat buddies! LOL Even if we beat your Sox a few times this year I will be happy haha.

Post 13 by tyger_lillee84 (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Thursday, 18-Mar-2010 17:37:17

The sox, and blue jays meet a few times this year. Not sure of the dates though!! I'd love a new baseball chat buddy!!! *smiles*

Post 14 by BigDogDaddy (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Thursday, 18-Mar-2010 20:50:44

My fantasy baseball league meets this coming sunday for our anual draft. We do an AL league only wich is tough for me as I'm an atlanta braves fan and live on NL baseball, but I'm ready for this season for sure!

Post 15 by Njcardinal (Generic Zoner) on Monday, 05-Apr-2010 11:47:44

I'm a Giants fan. Our pitching usually wins a lot of games for us, but we don't have too much offense. Still, they did pretty well last year and were this close to going to the playoffs if they hadn't had a few painful losses. Maybe we'll make it this year or at least have a record above .500 which was very difficult to do before last year. We play both the Red Sox and Bluejays this year in interleague play.

Post 16 by tyger_lillee84 (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Monday, 05-Apr-2010 16:45:45

I don't really follow the national league much, however, I do know a few players on national league teams. Didn't the redsox either get a player from the giants, or didn't you guys get one from us? I'm so happy the yankees lost to us last night!! It was an awesome opening night!!!

Post 17 by dallas cowboy fanc (Veteran Zoner) on Monday, 05-Apr-2010 18:01:32

First of all, good for your Sox beating the Yankees...I guess. If it was possible for them to both lose, that would be better. lol

Today, the Blue Jays lost their opener to Texas after playing no-hit baseball for seven innings. Tough, tough start. Jeez.

Finally, the Jays and Boston play their first series on April 26. We will have some fun then.

cheers.

Post 18 by tyger_lillee84 (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Monday, 05-Apr-2010 20:19:38

Awesome!! We will indeed have some fun!! We have Lacky, who is your ace?? Ok, that was mean, I'm sorry. But seriously, who are your starters, and how is your bullpen??

Post 19 by Njcardinal (Generic Zoner) on Monday, 05-Apr-2010 22:05:32

This is from a little earlier, but I know that the Giants got Brad Penny at the end of last year from the Red Sox. He pitched fairly well, but he's gone now.

Post 20 by Thom3of5 (Do the Doo.) on Tuesday, 06-Apr-2010 11:33:19

This should be an interesting season for the sox. For the longest time, Boston was an offensive powerhouse. This year they're trying to go with more of a pitching and defensive team. I like the addition of Mike Cameron and Adrian Beltrade at third base. Adding Lackey pumped up the pitching a bit.
It would have been better to get Halliday instead though. Smiles.
At least we don't have to go against him.

Thom

Post 21 by tyger_lillee84 (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Tuesday, 06-Apr-2010 16:03:10

Yes we do, I think we play the Phillies later on this year. I agree that we have great defense this year, but we need more bats. It was proven on sunday when the Yankees were hitting homers, and it took us a few innings to really get hot. Our pitching staff, and pitchers are awesome. We have a great bullpen!! We have speed too, but Jacoby isn't himself lately. He'll get his speed back, and steal home again *smiles* Go sox!!!!

Post 22 by Njcardinal (Generic Zoner) on Tuesday, 06-Apr-2010 22:56:05

I just checked Boston's schedule, and you're right. You do play Philadelphia twice this year in interleague play. You have a May 21-23 series in Philadelphia and a June 11-13 series in Boston, so Roy Halliday will probably pitch one of those games.

Post 23 by tyger_lillee84 (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Wednesday, 07-Apr-2010 11:31:18

Imagine Roy Halliday against either Becket, or Lacky!! That will make for an interesting and fun match!!

Post 24 by Njcardinal (Generic Zoner) on Wednesday, 07-Apr-2010 17:16:02

It should also be a low-scoring one.

Post 25 by tyger_lillee84 (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Thursday, 08-Apr-2010 15:52:14

Yep, I agree totally!!

Post 26 by Izzito (This site is so "educational") on Thursday, 08-Apr-2010 16:37:05

I hate both teams but 2 out of 3 new york not bad at all
and Ortiz should retire already lol

Great Yanks/Sox series there, especially the first game when Boston made the big comeback. I was up way too late listening to games! Also, the iPhone At Bat app is now accessible for anyone who may want it.

Post 30 by tyger_lillee84 (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Friday, 09-Apr-2010 10:51:53

Awesome!! They're going to do better now that they have Jason Bay!! He did great things for our team!!

Post 33 by slammy (Veteran Zoner) on Wednesday, 23-Jun-2010 12:26:07

I am a Mets fan and they are in second place

Post 34 by BigDogDaddy (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Wednesday, 23-Jun-2010 13:19:37

Behind, my atlanta braves!

Post 35 by HotPerro (I live and breathe the board) on Thursday, 24-Jun-2010 23:11:47

It's all about my NLWest, first place Padres, that the national media is totally ignoring! Like the Giants, we're built around great pitching and defense, and with our young speed and veteran talent, we're beating up on almost everyone. I think, barring injuries, if we keep playing the way we are, we can definitely contend for a play-off spot.

Post 36 by tyger_lillee84 (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Sunday, 27-Jun-2010 20:00:45

Yep, the Giants are pretty good. My Redsox just finished playing them. Right now we're a huge mess. Yeah, we're winning, and now in second place, but we have so many injuries. Within the last three days, we just added three more. It's crazy. But people didn't stop believing for 86 years, so I won't stop believing because of a few injuries. We'll get healthy, and go far!!! For the poster who liked the Braves, they're my nl pick of the year! Go braves, and go sox!!!!!!

i am also a bluejays fan arnt they doing better than every one thought. haven't they made some good mooves this year even tho they might be small ones. don't they have the home run leader in the american lieg maybe in all of baseball. can't remember.
